After September 2, 2008 candidates may register online for testing .

- PreKindergarten candidates are individually screened for readiness. This process takes approximately 30 minutes.
- Kindergarten candidates will take an academic assessment and participate in a playgroup that simulates a classroom experience. This process takes approximately 2 hours.
- 1st – 4th grade candidates will take a national assessment that focuses on reading comprehension, language skills, writing, and math computation. This process takes approximately 2-3 hours.

| TRANSCRIPTS & TEACHER RECOMMENDATIONS |
For all students applying to grades K-12, we require official transcripts, a copy of the first semester report card, and teacher recommendation forms. Grade-specific forms can be downloaded.

All applicants must provide a birth certificate, photo, copy of Social Security card, proof of immunizations and a current physical by a Florida physician. We require candidates for grades 6-12 to complete an applicant questionnaire.
The Admission Committee, composed of faculty and administrators, reviews all information gathered in the admission process and shares the admission decision with the applicant and parents. For those students who are qualified for admission, enrollment is dependent upon available space. A waiting pool is formed for candidates who have qualified for admission but no openings are available at their grade level.
7. Do you give preferential treatment to any applicant?
We do not give preferential treatment to any applicant. Every admission decision is predicated upon the question: Can this student be successful at Lake Highland? After answering that question affirmatively, we give careful consideration to siblings of existing students, children of faculty members, alumni and trustees, and students who were in our waiting pool the previous year.
